my point is they buy all those really expensive assault rifles and all it does is set in the closet and never even gets shot is not that kinda a wast of money if they do not even take them to the range.

They are either just lazy, or assume that it is not needed or necessary to test fire their weapon.* Mistaken thinking on their part.*

if that is what they choose to do, then that is what they choose to do. its not hurting me so why should l judge them for it?

l buy guns that l dont shoot . but l can shoot well. you cant lose money on guns they keep going up in value.

Perhaps they are too lazy to clean them after use. As soon as l come back from the range (and l am a frequent visitor) l clean my guns, rifles and shotguns that l fire. OK, l do not bring my whole arsenal with me, maybe three at a time, but l am a real good shot with a lot of practice.
My best shot just yesterday was a bullseye from 75 feet with my favorite; a High Point 995 - 9mm rifle.

Same resaon people buy first aid kits with out taking a first aid class. They think they know what they are doing.

or; Same resaon they buy a fire extinlisher, better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

As for buying a firearm (not for defense) and not shooting it, many buy firearms as either investments or to simpley add to a collection.

well, only misinformed people would buy an ''assault rifle'' for home defense. The vast majority of gun owners agree with that a shotgun or handgun as the best for home defense, not a rifle (or ''assault rifle'').

Aside from buying a gun for home defense, not every gun a person buys is for home defense.
Some people buy expensive guns to collect, rather than shoot.
Others may not have time or lack access to a legal shooting range to shoot the firearm.

And some people who buys a shotgun for home defense & never shoots it is the type that thinks when they need it they can preform flawlessly with it. Which for most of that kind of people is not true.

They r a product of the hollywood hype, where any pigtailed schoolgirl can pick up an RPG & take out an attack helicopter.

The only training these folks have is what they see on tv or on the movies. They make it look so easy that they actually believe they're capable of doing what they saw some actor do.

Mall ninjas r prevalent in firearms, especially tacti-cool firearms. Then again, there is guys l know that have a massive collection, but only shoot their favorites most of the time. Usually a DA revolver or a tuned semi, or even a tuned long gun. l am currently on a 45acp revolver kick myself, doing a lot of load development & testing for a blackhawk convertible 45 colt, 45 acp. Last year l was on a 40sw tangent doing the same thing. Who knows what l will be loading for in a few months.

well it seem to me that is some what a good thing. here in baltimore you see shootings every day and they cant hit the broad side of a barn. perfect example. bad thing for bystanders because they usually get shot. this would be a good lesson for law abiding gun owners to get trained in the proficiency of shooting. do not wait till the perps come knocking....

l never got that either???? --- It is as if they feel that because they have it they r automatically safe from the bad guys.. A great gun is worthless if u do not know how to use it...

l own several rifles & police type shotguns --- Sure - l have them for defense, but mostly its to have fun.. And if a rare occasion came up where l had to deal with a dirt ball l have the confidence & experience to know my shot will count..

This Mossberg 500 gets plenty of use!...

The only times l would buy a gun & not shoot it would be if l bought an antique that l was afraid of damaging or if l was simply buying it to wait for it to increase in value & sell later. l think a lot of the people who buy a gun for defensive purposes & use it wrongly assume that simply having a gun will protect them. And, yes, in some situations simply displaying a gun can prevent a crime, but not in all of them. Having a gun u do not know how to use is about as useful as me owning a bunch of car mechanics tools (putting gas in is about as technical as l get). Practice makes perfect. And sometimes a good shot is the difference between life & death.
