Im looking at buying a sks with a folding stock. It has a little play betweenthe stock and the receiver... . Is this normal or not?

Whoever fit the gun to the stock did not know what they were doing. Stocks, even ''drop ins are usually made a little smaller than they need to be so some filing/cutting needs to be done to get a perfect fit. Sounds like someone got a little impatient with that step.

First off, u need to know that a folding stock on an SKS could be in violation of federal law. l say COULD BE..there is some laws & rules that r ambiguous & the BATF has not clearly ruled on this topic. Just so u know.

l have had several folding aftermarket stocks for the SKS & they r all not worth having if u plan to actually hit a target. The stability of a stock is paramount to getting on target & these just do not have it.

Now, it is good that u noticed play between the stock & receiver. This will have serious detrimental effects on shooting. l personally would not shoot a gun that is not rock solid tight. It could be fixed, but it may take some gunsmithing & work. l would avoid this gun, there is a lot of SKSs for sale.
