I've got a little Ruger 10/22 that l would like to add a scope too. It is just for target shooting, so it does not have to be anything super fancy.

But l would like something that is durable and will last me a long time without costing $600+.

What are your suggestions for something under $150 and over?

A variable power 3x9 should do it. There are a ton load out there for less than $80. Because the .22 has such a light recoil, you do not need some heavy duty job built for a .300mag.

Try a 4 power BSA brand for about $40.

l just bought myself a 10/22, and l am probably going to put a fixed power scope on it, either 4x or 6x. l have not decided the brand yet, but l am not going to go too cheap, as it seems better to buy one decent scope than replace cheapos. l agree with the above poster that 3x9 would do for a non-fixed scope; anything higher power would probably be a waste, at least for 22lr.

You can not go wrong with a good quality rimfire scope like a Weaver or Leupold brand. A 2.5-7 x 28mm or a 3-9x33mm are nice sizes since you can keep the scopes mounted fairly low.

Nikons are decent scopes that do not cost a fortune... Avoid Barska is and Tasco's..

BSA has a line of inexpensive scopes. They make one with bullet drop compensation for the .22 lr. The Simmons t-22 is a nice scope as well.
Cheap scopes will last a long time on a .22 as long as you do not drop it.

The Best most versitile & inexpensive scope for the 10/22 is by far the BSA ''Sweet 22''. This scope has a built in BDC (bullet drop compensator) specifically designed for the 22 rimfire. Once calibrated, u can instantly change ur zero from 25 feet to 375 feet. So 'goodby' to hold over.

This scope will bring back the fun in outdoor hunting & plinking. It aint no $600 Leupold or Nikkon... but l have extra Leupolds in my safe & l choose to put this BSA on my Ruger. It is that useful. You can check it out online at Cabela is or Midwayusa.com

Barska 3-9 variable power 40mm objective lens. (3-9x40mm) about $40. very durable, high quality, well made, same quality as those other more expensive scopes for a fraction of the cost.

Generally sold online & at stores like Sportsmart, Sports Authority, some chain gun shops, & Big 5 Sporting goods.

Bushnell, Nikon, Weaver, etc generally sell 4x32 or 3-9 power scopes way too high around $60 to $100+, where u can get a equally as good scope from Barska for much ,much less.

Holy cow. With a budget of $150 u should be able to get a really nice scope for ur Ruger 10/22.

A couple years ago, a seller on eBay was selling large numbers of Nikon ProStaff 2-7x scopes. l bought one for $60 plus shipping. Let me tell you.the Nikon ProStaff is indeed a $60 scope! But, for use on a plinking rifle like my Ruger 10/22, it suits my needs.

My advice? Look on eBay or auctionarms or gunbroker for a good USED scope like a Leupold or even the junky Nikon. For $150 u might be able to get a really nice Leupold 2-7x rifle scope at this time of year.

l agree with some others here. l have a 10 22 l just purchased and after returning 2x $50 center points and 1x $60 Bushnell that would not keep their zero l decided to try the Nikon Prostaff 6310 3-9x40. This scope is amazing for the price and keeps its zero at 100yds with no problem. Walmart has them for 159.95 but you can find them on Ebay brand new with the warranty for 129.95.
