I've heard of the Marlin 1894 model, surely there are other rifles besides the marlin 1894 model. Anyone point out something else?

Winchester makes one as do a number of other manufactures that specialize in Western era firearms. I've seen replica rifles made by Dixie Gun Works as well as Navy Arms. I've also seen them in .44/40, .44 Special & .44 Magnum.

As for originals the Henry is was first mass produced lever action rifle, they came out just before the Civil War ended. Henry is were fast but sort of under powered. Winchester came out with a really nice lever action rifle in 1873, then went on to improve it until the final version came out in 1895.

Marlin started producing lever actions 1884, l like the closed top side ejection breach the Marlin 1889 has, much better at keeping dust & moisture out. Much stronger too.

Another manufacturer is Puma Rifles. They make a pretty solid lever-action.

Ones l know that are being made now include: Beretta 1873 Renegade, Chaparral Arms, Cimarron 1892 and 1866/1873, Henry Big Boy, IAR, Navy Arms, Taylor's, and Uberti.

Great research everyone! Also, American Western Arms was making them and a pump 38/357 (colt lightning copy) in early 2000's. The company may be defunct now.
