S&W makes a great one. Not a .357 person myself, but my dad swears by that thing.

Smith & Wesson makes good ones. Here is a link to all their .357 magnums.

If you're looking for something for concealed carry, l would strongly recommend one of the concealed hammer models.

The Ruger SP101 & GP100 r also very nice revolvers.

If u r looking for something well made & reliable but a bit more budget conscious, check out Taurus revolvers.

Rossi, Taurus, Ruger & S&W all make nice models. For a good all around pistol, l like a 3.5 - 4'' barrel. Some of these r shown in Blue but r available in Stainless as well.

The S&W mod 686 is a really sweet revolver. It costs the most but man o' man.

Colt, Smith & Wesson and Ruger are all great names in American handgun making. Unfortunately, Colt no longer manufactures double-action revolvers.

l think the Colt Python is a real classic and perhaps the best looking double action 357 in the world.

Buy one of the Older Used Smith & Wesson Revolvers, like the Models 19, 29, or 66 and save $$$$.* A New revolver does not shoot any better than a Good used one.*

Two brands that l like r Ruger & Taurus. Both r well made guns. l think the Ruger has a better reputation simply because it is an American made gun while the Taurus is an import. Both r good guns. l prefer the Taurus simply from an aesthetic standpoint. Pick either brand & u wo not be dissatisfied.

Some folks will tout the Smith & Wesson handguns. l have owned several of them & had trouble with those that were chambered for the magnum rounds such as the .357 Model 19 & the .44 mag. Model 29. Feeding them a steady diet of magnum rounds caused the top strap to actually stretch & that results in a condition known as end shake. l had to return two revolvers to S&W for repairs. When l got them back, l sold them & bought Taurus revolvers. Perhaps S&W has solved this problem. If so, I'd then add them to my list of recommended revolvers. You will just have to do a bit of research to find if S&W has solved this problem before buying one.

Smith & Wesson 686 is are great they're reliable and accurate. l think they make 7 round variants as well and weighted barrels. Smith & Wesson have been making great revolvers for many years.

l just recently purchased S&W model 686 7 shot .357. The first day l had it out on the range it performed flawlessly and was able to shoot 2.5 inch groupings by the second reload. Put only 200 rounds on it the first day as we were shooting 7 different revolvers and pistols. S&W currently has a rebate going on some of their models and have been able to save an additional $50 with rebate.

For concealed carry l would get the Ruger SP101
Both the lighter Taurus and Smith snubs have issues with shooting themselves apart using a steady diet of full house 357 loads
Smith even acknowledges this

For field work
Either a prelock or older Smith 686, Ruger BlackHawk, Ruger GP100, or Taurus 66

It really depends on how u want to use it.

Pocket Revolver:
Smith & Wesson Model 649 Bodyguard or Model 640 Centennial r the very best choices in pocket revolvers in my opinion. The Bodyguard has a shrouded hammer & the Centennial is a true hammerless design. Both offer a snag-free draw from the pocket & both can be repeatedly fired from inside the pocket or purse.

Belt Gun:
Smith & Wesson Model 19, Smith & Wesson Model 686, or Ruger GP-100 would make a great choice. The Model 19 was the first medium framed .357 Magnum ever marketed, it is trim, light, & accurate. The S&W M-686 is somewhat heavier than the M-19 so it will hold up better to a steady diet of full power magnum loads. The same can be said for the Ruger GP-100.

For hunting, nothing beats a Ruger Blackhawk in .357 Magnum revolvers. However, for hunting, Blackhawks in .41 Magnum, .45 LC, or Super Blackhawks in .44 RemMag r a better choice.

For field/target: S&W 686/Ruger GP100/Dan Wesson(used)- 6'' Bbl.
For the house: (Any of the above w/3-4'' Bbl.)
For ccw: Ruger Sp101/S&W Model 60 (these are tough to handle in .357)
