l wanna paint the receiver of my ruger 1022 silver since l do not have the money to buy a new receiver, were would l get the pant and what kind should l use?

l would recommend automobile paint, but that would probably break ur budget as well.

If u r OK with funking the gun up a bit, go to ur local hardware store & buy some metallic spray paint.

Get a couple of different kinds, & test them out on something else first to see how u like the look. Be prepared to show proof that u r at least 18 when u buy the paint. Many retailers no longer sell paint to minors, as they know some people buy it for ''huffing & metallic paints r among the most popular for getting high.

Make sure u paint in a well ventalated area that is as dust & dirt free as possible. Rough up the surface of ur receiver first with a piece of fine steel wool so the paint will stick. You can use a primer coat if u wish, but l do not see it as necessary. Use a gray primer if u choose to prime, as it is close to silver in color.

Spray a very light coat to start with, & let it dry thoroughly (30 minutes or less is all it takes) before hitting it with a second coat, then a third, & as many as it takes. Just keep the coats light, as u will get runs if u go too heavy.


Take care not to get paint into any of the internal working parts. Stuff newspaper inside to prevent this.
Use something like a dowel rod to insert into the receiver to hold it while u paint, & make sure that it is thoroughly dry before u put it down anywhere.

However u r talking about just out of a spray can something like RustOleum (after degreasing) sprayed on & cured a few days will suffice.

l had a link for a spray can gun-paint (around $10)Brownell is l think.

I've heard hi-temp BBQ grill paint works well also..and is durable.
