l have a Remington LTR police model 700 in 308.l have been loading several bullets for it, including the 168 sierra and the 168 A-Max.l am looking into trying some of the sierra 155 Palma or the 150 A-Max.l know that the normal twist in the Remington 308 is 1 in 12'' but the Police models in the 223 have different twist than the other 223 offerings.l just wanna know if it is indeed a 1 in 12, or a 1 in 11.5 like the 5-R barreled actions are or even a 1 in 10. Someone who really knows needs to let me know.Thanks.....

l would make an educated guess that it is 1 in 12. Try this fit a tight patch to your cleaning rod and start it from the breech. After it has started stop. Mark the cleaning rod with a marker right next to the muzzle. Continue to pull the rod until the mark on the rod is in the same position. ''The rod made 1 revolution mark the rod same as before. The distance between the marks is your twist rate.

The rifling twist is in fact 1 in 12'' for the .308 Win. chambering in the Remington LTR.

l have been competition shooting the 308 for both military and civilian 30+ years.

Do not fret over twist rate. Do not concern yourself with it in this caliber. The 223/5.56mm has 'issues' that are not part of the 30 caliber family.
